Pax Christi is an international Catholic peace movement rooted in the Gospel call to nonviolence and the dignity of every person. It brings together people committed to prayer, study, and action for justice—working to end war, racism, nuclear arms, and all forms of violence. Pax Christi chapters create spaces for reflection, community, and courageous conversations that help us respond faithfully to the crises of our time. Our mission is to build a world shaped by compassion, solidarity, and the peace of Christ.
What does Church teaching say about when a resort to military force is morally justified? Parishioner Jim Thomas will provide an overview of moral principles from the New Testament and the just war tradition about the use of violence. Then he will facilitate a discussion about how Catholic teaching can be applied to current situations: Iran, Venezuela, and Ukraine. Jim has a Masters in Religious Studies from Gonzaga University.
